Dry Needling and Motor Point Needling for spasms
Dry Needling is a form of acupuncture that traditionally used a hypodermic needle with no injected liquid. Thus the 'dry' needle. Wet needling uses a hypodermic needle to administer some form of medicine like Lidocaine, Benzocaine, or even steroids. Sometimes even plain saline is used.
A better term for this would actually be motorpoint needling or myofascial trigger point therapy, sometimes called needle therapy for back pain.
To the right is a photo of a patient getting dry needling on her shoulder.
