Meditation and mindfulness has been used for relaxation and stress management for thousands of years.  

There are different types of meditation and mindfulness we practice and teach.  

Samatha (Shamatha) which is focused concentration.  

Vipassana, which is called insight meditation.

Guided imagery, which talks you through a scenario to help you relax or heal. 

Hypnosis, although similar is not part of meditation as we use it. 

Contemplation is a form of meditation similar to Vipassana.
